MD Constitutional Convention

This is a question you will see on this coming November’s ballot on 11/02/2010. The question is: Do you want to have such a convention for the purpose of amending, updating or rewriting the State’s Constitution?

This very question only shows up on the ballot every 20 years.

Chances are you don’t know much about this little tidbit.

If you wish to understand more, I recommend you start here.

This could be important to you and others.

Thought I’d Share This

Don’t know how anyone may consider this, but I wanted to share this short email exchange between a constituent and myself.

I decided to redact the person’s name and email address to protect her from any unwanted contact as a result of this. Hope she doesn’t mind. And since my treasurer’s name is on record, I hope he doesn’t mind that I include his comment as well.

(Read from the bottom up.)

You know actually that is a good point to make.
You live your principals, no debt on your campaign.
You live within your means.
Very good

You are very kind, Lynn.

Don’t worry about the donation bit, it’s way too close to the Primary at this point anyway.

Yes, I’m not rich. My day job starts when I get up at 5:30 or 6am then home by 6pm.

That is, until I started this business of running for office.

Yes, I do know the value of a dollar and how not to over-reach.

I may do a little more as my treasurer and I were discussing things at lunch today.

We shall see how the numbers look come the evening (or next day) of the primary.

Night.

Daniel

P.S. I’m of Irish ancestry, actually. If that matters. Personally, I figure I am an American first. Republican last. Conservative second.

Dear Mr. McAndrew,

Today, I received the ballot for the Maryland Primary, and was researching U.S. Senate candidates.
Upon perusing a Wiki article, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_election_in_Maryland,_2010 I noticed that you and Barbara Mikluski (sic) have something in common in regard to your campaign, ZERO DEBT. One major difference is that she has about $3Million and you have hardly anything to work with. It is amazing. This fact intrigued me to go to your web site, and see what your stance is on various issues we are facing today, as a country. I like what I see.

Unfortunately, I have no money to donate towards your campaign, but wanted to know that we need more people like you in politics.

McAndrew is a good Scottish name!

Best wishes for a successful run.

Regards,

Lynn REDACTED

Piling On To Health Care Costs

By your own employer, perhaps.

What Kind of Logic Is This?

It’s the silly season isn’t it? Obviously, whoever is making such stupid reasoning for denial, or revocation, of a CCW renewal isn’t playing with a full deck.

Here’s the Piece of “logic” in question:

The agency said it was “because I hadn’t been attacked” again, Woollard said in an interview. “They said, ‘If you have any problems, you let us know.’ “

How would you like it if your safety was determined by someone ELSE in control of your decisions to safeguard your life?

This isn’t just scary, to me – it is unconstitutional considering SCOTUS’ Heller ruling.

Bypass the Electoral College??

Massachusetts wants to.
And, so far, five other states did. (Guess who was first?)

Good idea?? You know what this means don’t you?

It would mean that their states’ electoral votes may be awarded to a candidate who did not win statewide.

Still think it’s a good idea? I do not.

Here’s the status so far, state-by-state.

UPDATE: CNN Video on Amnesty Bill

I received this in an email today.

Seems that CNN is rather ticked about the pending 2007 Amnesty Bill.

After listening/watching this video, I am also quite (more than just) ticked.

Remember November.

UPDATE: I apologize for this. A friend helped check this out while I was at work today. This video goes back to the Bush administration about the year 2007. It does not apply to current issues. I should have known better since Lou Dobbs retired/resigned from CNN some months ago (last year??).

EPA Issuing New COAL Air Pollution Rules

Get ready folks. The Administration is going to take our money yet again.

Add this to the amounts mentioned in the previous post.

Never mind, according to the FAIR report, every family in the nation will have to cover $11,100+ per year for illegal aliens. Add this annual cost to the financial effects of this set of rules just for coal fired power plants and other coal-driven industries.

When does this stop? When even those of us still working lose everything.

Law Applies To Everyone

Yeah.

Somebody tell Congress.

This might explain why they come out as millionaires.

Healthcare Coverage Uncovered

Imagine that.

According to Jim Hoft at GatewayPundit, a majority of Americans will lose their company sponsored health plans within 3 years.

Well, not so much by Jim Hoft he just posted the news this afternoon, try Investors via Doug Ross.
